1. Call for PhD Student Representatives, apply by 19/5

Do you know any problems with the University? Come and help fix them and apply as a PhD student representative!

DN elects PhD students to its own positions of trust as well as doctoral student representatives to various bodies of Uppsala University. All of the positions are lucrative ways for PhD students to get to know the university better, deepen their knowledge on PhD student related matters, strengthen their CV, and advocate for PhD students’ rights in various parts of the University! In addition to the positions being fun, challenging and rewarding, you get compensated by prolongation and, in some cases, by money!

In 2023, the elections will be held on 23 May at the Doctoral Board’s election meeting. The filler elections are to be held on 12 June.

For available positions and instructions to apply, see: https://uudoctoralboard.se/available-positions/

3. Open Call – Testimonies about harassment, answer by 9/6
Doktorandnämnden (DN) is working on a booklet addressed to doctoral students at UU that aims to prevent cases of harassment and provide help and guidance to those who are experiencing any kind of harassment by superiors, supervisors, or colleagues. For this reason, the editorial team (composed of doctoral students) working on the booklet would like to receive anonymous testimonies from peers who are experiencing or have experienced harassment. Some of these testimonies will be edited and used in the booklet to give other PhD under similar conditions some insights on how to overcome uncertainties during the reporting process.

4. Enlight opportunities for PhD Students
There are many opportunities that are coming up in the Enlight network, and we would like to have more UU academics applying.

We have an Info webinar on the 26th of May, and there we will focus on opportunities for young researchers: https://www.uu.se/enlight/kalendarium/evenemang?eventId=77712

5. Folkuniversitetet’s Summer Swedish courses

Be aware that the Folkuniversitet arranges Swedish courses during the summer. The courses have a fee, but since Folkuniversitet is partnered with Uppsala University and PhD students get a 20% discount, we thought you’d like to know in case you find the opportunity useful.
